🐝✨ HRSY 국제교류! [북일 매거진] [단독 인터뷰]
2024년 북일고등학교가 HRSY(Humanities Research Symposium For Youth)을 주관하였습니다.
---------------------------------------
First, please introduce yourself.
Hilary Fung: Hi, i'm Hilary Fung, a grade 10 student from Diocesan Girls' School in Hong Kong.
Sophia Fung: Hi, i'm Sophia Fung from DGS as well, and I'm also in grade 10.
Charlie Hui: Hi, i'm Charlie Hui from DGS as well and I'm also in Grade 10.
Interviewer: Thank you. And for next, What brought you here?
Sophia Fung: So we joined HRSY together as a team. We decided to do a paper on yin and yang in language because the topic of yin and yang sounded really interesting to us. We wanted to do our own take on this by applying it to different languages and hybrid languages and whatnot. So this is what brought us here.
2. How was the weather in Korea? Isn't it very hot?
Charlie Hui: It's been a bit hot lately, but I think it's windier than Hong Kong, although it's hotter.
Hilary Fung: Yeah, in Hong Kong it's always raining and it's always humid as well. So being in Korea is actually a good change for us.
3. What was your impression of the Bugil high school?
Hilary Fung: Oh, we all thought that the campus was really large and we loved that there were trees lining up the road and it's really beautiful. We also saw the sunset as well.
Charlie Hui: I think it's really nice that you had the band performance just now because we don't have that experience in Hong Kong and I thought like there's this early show as well. Yeah. Oh, and then there's this convenience store in the school and that was really special for us.
Sophia Fung: Yeah, it's a really lovely place
4. What was your most memorable experience?
Sophia Fung: I think for us the most memorable was one day while we were going back to the auditorium for our presentations, we got lost among the classroom levels and then we had to seek help from one of your students to get back to the auditorium. And it was a really fun and really memorable experience because although we were lost, It really showed that your students are really helpful and they agreed to take us there personally and not just giving us the directions. Even though we had language barriers, they still managed to take us there and we ended up back in the auditorium safely and so that was really memorable.
Hilary Fung: Yeah, and we were walking the corridors, a lot of the students were waving at us, and they were just saying hi to us as well, so that was really kind.
Sophia Fung: Yeah.
5. Do you have any words for the Bugil Academy students?
Sophia Fung: Well, yeah, yeah. I think just in general to all students, yeah, good luck on academics and whatnot. I can just see it's a really, as we said, it's a big campus and there's a huge variety of different activities. I think that's really wonderful and I hope that the students here can really enjoy these activities to the fullest and have a great time in their school years.
Hilary Fung: Yeah, and we know that your exams are coming up, so good luck with that.

다음은 싱가포르 'Hwa Chong Institution'의 인터뷰입니다.
Can you introduce yourself?
Zhang Xiaoyu: So i'm Xiaoyu, i'm from HwaChong Institution.
Kong Yi: I'm Kong Yi. I'm also from Hwa Chong Institution.
2. What brought you here?
Kong Yi: Oh, okay. So we're actually here for the Humanities Research Symposium for the Youth. And this is actually an event collaborating with several schools from different countries. And this year, it's based here in Bugil Academy.
Zhang Xiaoyu: In this symposium, we're representing our own delegations. We have put in research to various different topics that we're interested in, linked to the theme this year, which is Yin and Yang, and we present it to everyone to share our ideas regarding the humanities.
3. It is summer in Korea, so the weather in Korea is hot, isn't it hot?
Kong Yi: Okay, so actually we're from Singapore and in Singapore it's like also pretty hot. So like all year around we experience somewhat similar weather, especially at this time it's also similar weather in Singapore. So yeah, it's really hot and outside we were just outside just now, the sun is blazing hot, yeah, and I do agree that it's quite hot. I think one thing that is different from Singapore and here is that the air is more dry even when it is hot, yeah.
Zhang Xiaoyu: Yeah, so in Singapore it's very humid, so not only is it hot, you sweat a lot and it takes a long time to dry. I think it's quite dry to us, so look at our lips, it's all dry, really lip balm and all that.
4. What is the most memorable experience you ever had?
Zhang Xiaoyu: So far I really loved Lotte World. My group, because we had an amazing race, but my group, we're not so obedient, so we did some of the missions and we just went around, tried to experience all the rides. Very, very fun.
Kong Yi: For me, it was like making kimbab. So actually, the organizers gave us the chance to make kimbab on our own. And I think it was quite a cool experience to see the way this traditional food is made over here and a chance to make it and even try it for ourselves. It was pretty cool. Yeah.
5. Did you face any difficulties while participating in this program? Any difficulties?
Kong Yi: For us, not really. Difficulties. Yeah, I mean, mainly it's just that the environment is a little different. Yeah, like the dry weather, so I had to put on lip balm because my lips started cracking. I think maybe another thing is that it's a little more difficult for us to communicate with the people here because there is a language barrier. Yeah, that is one difficulty that we face, I guess.
6. What activities did you do with Korean people?
Kong Yi: Oh yeah, so when we went to Lotte World for my group, we actually went to eat at a chicken and pizza place. Yeah, so apparently like here y'all eat chicken quite a lot and I thought it was like really cool to see the type of food y'all eat and that is frequent and like Usually you all have that small dish of radish beside, right? That's not a very common thing for us. So I thought it was quite interesting.
Zhang Xiaoyu: On the topic of food, I just want to shout out to my group because they brought us to this really good pork cutlet place at Lotte World. It was so good. Very crispy.
7. What is something you experienced in Korea that you would post about to your friends?
Kong Yi: I think one thing is mainly the food because even in Singapore there's actually quite a lot of Korean cuisine restaurants and things like that. So actually being able to be here in Korea to experience and eat the real so-called korean food is pretty good like when i went to a restaurant yesterday, they actually served like a small dish of kimchi and i ate the entire thing because i really enjoyed it um yeah maybe it's something that i think singaporeans enjoy a lot like eating korean food so i think that is something i will boost to my friends about.
Zhang Xiaoyu
Within our social circle, I think another thing that's eye-opening for us is the fact that the people here are very sincere and we generally appreciate how the OC members carry themselves in organizing events. Even accounting for short delays, they're very sincere in explaining the situation to us. So yeah, nice people all around.

다음은 호주 'Citypointe Christian College'의 인터뷰입니다.
Can you introduce yourself?
Edward Kim: I'm Edward Kim from Citypointe Christian College.
Nirupama: And i'm Nirupama from Citypointe Christian College.
2. What brought you here?
Edward Kim: Korea attracted me. I love Korea.
Nirupama: Last year we did our research paper and I wanted to present it.
3. What was your impression about Bugil Academy by staying this place few days?
Edward Kim: Amazing. Students are all nice. They're all nice to me. They give me gifts and everything. I really enjoy here. I think I'll miss it when I go home.
Nirupama: I actually really liked it. Initially I thought because it was a boys' school, it wouldn't be as accommodating. But it was actually really nice. All the people have been really sweet and it was really well organised.
4. What is something you experienced in Korea that you would boost for your hometown friends?
Nirupama: Probably better organisation skills. I think in Korea, the way that they were really accommodating, they bought us a lot of gifts and that kind of stuff, but in Australia, they don't really consider all the aspects of it.
Edward Kim: Giving us more gifts. Australia doesn't give me any gifts. Korea people, as soon as I come, five shirts, two hats, crazy.
